Take the Challenge!

Join hundreds of community members in a learning journey for 21 days and commit to deepening your understanding of the history and impact of racism. The Challenge will raise your awareness, expand your understanding, and inspire you to examine how racism shapes people's lived experiences in South Central Michigan.

Accessibility: All videos included throughout this challenge are captioned. Some content includes audio description, and some includes transcription. All images and infographics will include image descriptions. Please reach out to our team at t.mills@uwscmi.org at any time with any questions about accessibility and/or accommodation requests.

What to expect:

  • You'll receive an email each weekday morning between April 7 and May 5. Each day's content includes a brief introduction on a topic related to racism, followed by resources such as podcasts, articles, videos, and infographics. You choose which links you'd like to explore - aim for at least 10-15 minutes a day of learning and reflecting.
  • Explore this work on your own, with friends and family, or organization-wide.
  • Capture your daily reflections and actions using our activity log. Click here to download the log.
  • Don't forget to follow our organizations on social media for continuing learning and engagement opportunities.

Note: This Challenge was originally developed by Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr., Dr. Marguerite Penick-Parks and Debby Irving and has been adapted by organizations including Food Solutions New England and the Michigan Association of United Ways.
